Mistakes

Amazing how many mistakes one makes in a single day. Most people just ignore minor mistakes and move on, but if you register and keep track of all of them, they add up big time. Of course, there are those people who are much more meticulous and deliberate in their actions, and so make far fewer mistakes, but I think this is a tiny minority. Most of us makes dozens, perhaps even hundreds, of mistakes every day. I think therefore that humanity is actually very mistake prone — perhaps much more mistake prone then is commonly realized.

Avoiding Nuclear War

Taiwan solution…

Henry Barnard's avatarHenry's Views

The world glides silently toward nuclear war over Taiwan. The unthinkable has reality precisely because everyone dismisses it as unthinkable, yet China is adamant about Taiwan, as the US is adamant about its defense.

But nuclear war over Taiwan is not in anyone’s interest – not China’s or the US or Taiwan. It would mean the end of our civilization and a new dark-ages for mankind.

So what is to be done? How can this inevitable war and tragedy be avoided? The answer lies in the type of diplomacy exercised by the British over the control of Hong Kong — a gradual lending of hegemony to China as the dominant power over a number of years.

An administrative unit is set up over Taiwan that consists of 5 votes. Initially, 4 votes are controlled by Taiwanese and 1 vote by the Chinese. But, it is agreed at the onset, that…

How To Eat

Begin the biggest meal of the day the same way. First, eat what I call a walnut blast. 10 half shell walnuts. The fat in walnuts will make the rest of the meal more digestible, i.e., more available to the body. Plus, walnuts are the only nut with high levels of omega-3 fats. And eating such a high-fat, satiating food will dampen your appetite so that you will end up eating fewer calories. Also, eating such a high-fat food first will mean that the insulin spike from the carbohydrates in the whole meal that follows will be reduced.

Second, 5 minutes later, eat 2 stocks of broccoli. Chew the broccoli very well so that sulforaphane is formed in the mouth. The broccoli has anti-cancer properties, among other benefits. And the fat from the walnuts will make nutrition from the broccoli much more available.

Do this every day without fail.

Bread Again

I’ve been frustrated with commercially available bread, as I’ve wanted to move away from eating wheat and breads loaded with sugar). Not so much because of the glutan, but because wheat has been so modified in the last 100 years that it is the classic hybrid food (or said another way, is it food at all?). But if you look at commercially available breads, even those that call themselves “Rye Bread” or “Oat Bread” or whatever, the first and therefore biggest ingredient is always wheat. So who are they kidding? So I decided to try to make my own bread and nix the wheat. Ordered a bunch of different flours from Amazon, including walnut flour. But then, wouldn’t you know it, I discovered a commercially available bread that in fact does NOT include wheat and has zero sugar — even has some flaxseed and iodine (guess I’ll be making muffins with all that Amazon flour). This one:

“Evil Empire”

“Evil Empire”

Henry Barnard's avatarHenry's Views

Reagan called the Soviet Union the “evil empire”. But if you look at the international relations of the United States in the last 70 years, the litany of terrible outcomes and consequences is almost breathtaking — Vietnam, El Salvador, regime change in Iran, second Iraq war, Afghanistan. I’m sure this short list is missing other significant fiascos. So the bottom line might indeed be that today’s “evil empire” is not them but us — we are the evil empire!

At the very least, I think it is time that the United States government seriously reevaluate its goals relative to international affairs, and make the key objectives not exploiting weaknesses of other countries for some illusory gains for the US, but instead rectifying potential areas of conflict between nations so that peace and prosperity world-wide are assured.

Instead of jockeying for some questionable advantages, a more high-minded diplomacy on the part…
