Police
It’s the police who keep Americans from turning into savages, particularly in large cities. A society without police would turn into a primal and deadly environment. Police are really the vanguards of orderly society. In many ways, they are the heroes. That there are a small number of corrupt and/or unnecessarily vicious cops changes none of that.
Sanctuary Cities and States
I don’t understand why the Justice Department doesn’t bring criminal indictments against officials in sanctuary cities and states. Long overdue.
No Deterrence
Getting rid of the death penalty gives license to terrorist attacks — they won’t have to pay the ultimate price. Ditto for premeditated murder.

Any Penalties?
It will be interesting to see if there are any penalties for those who are proven to have made false slanders against Judge Kavanaugh. Malicious intent will not be hard to prove.
Presexual Agreement
It is common now for the very wealthy to enter into marriages with a prenuptial agreement in order to protect the party who is extremely wealthy from being bilked by a would-be gold digger. Given the fact that everyone knows how vicious and extremely expensive divorce can be, prenuptial agreements would appear to be a very rational arrangement.
Today we have the so-called “Me Too Movement” where women who have been victimized by some kind of sexual transgression are coming forward and identifying the man who victimized them. This is all to the good versus what happened in the old days where the victimized woman would just stay mum for a variety of questionable reasons — she felt she wouldn’t be believed, she didn’t want the blowback, she didn’t want the embarrassment of being victimized, she didn’t want the ordeal of a trial, etc.
But has the pendulum swung too far in the opposite direction when even an esteemed Supreme Court nominee gets hit with character assassination along these same lines? The estimates for the number of fraudulent claims brought by women ranges from 2 to 8% for those cases that are proceeded with, but 45% of the cases are not proceeded with but dropped, so the number of fraudulent claims could be much higher — no one really knows. And we are dealing here with interpersonal relations where the woman may in fact be very motivated to maliciously smear the man who, for whatever reason, she wants to injure.
So where does this leave the young man who wants to initiate a sexual relationship with a woman but is now afraid of a potential lawsuit by his would-be lover. Instead of the two of them being carried away under the moonlight with strains from a Cole Porter song in their hearts, would he in particular be well advised to seek out a presexual agreement before things gets hot and heavy. Not exactly a most romantic gesture on his part, but has it come to this? How else could he prove that it was consensual?

Libel
The libel laws against politicians are a much looser standard — you can pretty much say just about anything about a politician and you can’t be sued by them for libel. But judges are not politicians. Not only that, their reputations are very valuable to them, given the nature of their work as representatives of the law. You should be very afraid if you have libeled a judge…very afraid. If any of these women made false or idle allegations against Brett Kavanaugh, they are going to rue the day. A judge is the last person in the world you want to libel.
