What the anti-carb folks don’t understand is that there is a vast difference between simple carbs and complex carbs high in fiber. You want to avoid all the simple carbs like the plague, like they do. But the complex carbs with fiber are actually the best type of food on the planet. You want to eat more, not less, complex carbs.

New Type of Nut Bar
I’m seeing a new type of nut bar where the producer, instead of using refined sugar, is using dates for the sweetener. Basically, the nuts are encased in dates as the wrapper.

Nutrition Chaos
If you read widely in terms of nutrition, you see every claim made by a particular group will have counter claims made by opposing groups — each group having a set bias in terms of advocating a specific diet. So it is much like a war of competing claims. Therefore, there is little doubt that as a science, nutrition is perhaps the most controversial area of study, given this background of competing vested interests.
But there is little to doubt on one point that has been proven over and over again with statistically sound evidence from large-scale experiments — that the vegan, plant-based diet is the healthiest relative to longevity and overall health, and this by a large margin when compared to any other sort of diet.
So if you want to live a long life and in good health, the choice to do so — to the extent you can influence it — is absolutely clear.
Sadly, relatively few people make that choice because they don’t want to give up the foods they have come to enjoy — despite the consequences. The vast majority of people make a compromise with the devil sacrificing their health for pleasure.
Vegan “Cheese”
How to make vegan cheese. Can of Goya Organics Chickpea low sodium. Keep the liquid. Add 1.5 tbs Walnut oil. 1/2 cup nutritional yeast. Large dollop of Cashew butter. Garlic powder. Almond flour. Bragg Organic Apple Cider Vinegar (amount here determines how thick or thin you want your “cheese”). Tapioca powder. Touch of Bragg Liquid Aminos.
Crush in a pot with a potato masher.
Cook in the pot until it is cooked enough.
I like to have it with Ronzoni Garden Delight Veggie Trio Italiano (made with vegetables), i.e., vegetable-oriented, not wheat, pasta.
I pour the “cheese” over the Trio Italiano and then top it all with a mound of mixed, organic leafy greens chopped into small pieces. Almost every meal of mine looks identical with this mound of chopped leafy greens on top and the goodies hidden underneath. All you see initially is this mound of finely diced leafy greens. Usually I add drops of real lemon juice to the leafy greens, but not when I have my “cheese”.
Minimal saturated fat in this “cheese” versus the real stuff.
Diversify Your Diet
Diversify your diet with Lifeside meals. These meals are plugged for their ease of preparation, but I’m using them just as much in order to diversify my meals with excellent and more well-rounded nutritional choices.

Interesting series on Netflix about a young woman with a 3-year-old daughter who separates from an abusive man. The series has good writing and plot twists, and doesn’t skirt the issue of money, with many financial and other travails encounter by the woman in dealing with her situation. Worth a watch.

If you want to treat yourself to the most delectable dessert, try the Mitica Date Walnut Cake. Got mine at Whole Foods. Probably the most delicious food I’ve ever eaten. Major dopamine rush. (So beware this could turn into a major addiction.)
Mitica also has a fig-oriented cake if you prefer figs to dates.
